While coaching college on the East Coast, I saw numerous players that were being under-recruited because they didn't play AAU or played on a lower-level team due to being a multi-sport athlete, having to work in the summer, or lacking financial resources. When I left coaching in 2009, I got bored without basketball and started TheMRR that November. My goal was to see as many players as possible, including the under-recruited, and share what I saw with as many college coaches as possible.
TheMRR is a resource for college coaches. For 12.5 years, most players and parents probably didn't even knew that I existed or what I did. Then I joined Twitter in February of 2022, so now I also do game write-ups during the high school season and some "shout outs" during the club season on that platform. However, the biggest part of TheMRR is still behind the scenes to the general public--serving as a resource to college coaches.
With the rising cost of travel (and life in general), in the middle of 2023, the decision was made to bring on a partner (Mason Asher) and begin charging a nominal fee to colleges who wanted the information. However, in two years the number of coaches receiving TheMRR had dwindled to less than 1% of the previous amount. Since my goal has always been to get information on players out to as many coaches as possible in order to give players more options and increase their chances of finding their best fit (academically, financially, athletically, geographically, socially, etc.), this has been a very disappointing development.
Thus, as TheMRR enters its 17th year in the November of 2025, we have made the decision to return TheMRR to its roots and dissolve the partnership. Moving forward TheMRR will once again be a FREE resource for college coaches and will be solely my (Reggie's) hobby. [Mason will continue to cover basketball through Asher Scouting.]

The Midwest Recruiting Resource is available to any college women's basketball coach that wants to receive it. Interested coaches can complete the Subscription Form on the College Coaches page. Once your email address has been verified, you will receive a link giving you access to the google sheet containing the entire player database. I would recommend that you "pin" this email so that it stays at the top of your inbox (or put it into a special folder where you can easily access it).
***By submitting the Subscription Form, you are agreeing that you (1) will not grant access to the database to anybody else, (2) will cease using it if you leave college coaching, and (3) will submit another form if you switch schools. If you want other coaches on your staff to receive it simply add their information (name and email) on the form, or have them submit a form themselves. If you have coaching friends at another college that you think would appreciate this information, please send them to this website.***
TheMRR's primary coverage areas will once again be Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Secondary coverage areas include Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Indiana, and Nebraska. [I see a lot of teams from Iowa, the Dakotas, and sometimes Nebraska at spring/summer tournaments in Minnesota and Iowa. Since Indiana starts the HS season much earlier than any of my primary coverage areas, I have been heading down to Indiana for a few weekends each HS season in recent years.] However, I will also write about players from other states when I see them at events that I am covering.
If you have any questions about TheMRR, please ask me.
